Ingredients

12 servings
  • Honey(120g)
  • Brown sugar(50g)
  • Mustard, Dijon(5g)

Dijon mustard — Grey Poupon or store brand. Spicier than yellow mustard.

  • Vinegar, Apple Cider(5g)
  • Garlic powder(3g)
  • Onion powder(3g)
  • ¼ tsp salt ($0.04)
  • ¼ Tsp Black Pepper (Freshly Cracked, $0.08)
  • Cinnamon, Ground(1g)
  • Ham, Black Forest(1814g)
  • ½ inch water ($0.00)

Instructions

  1. 1Gather all ingredients and place the ham on a cutting board. Pat the surface dry with paper towels to help the glaze adhere better.
  2. 2In a small saucepan, whisk together the honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Heat over medium heat for 3–4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the brown sugar is fully dissolved and the glaze is slightly thickened and glossy.
  3. 3Place the ham cut side down in a 9×13 baking dish. Pour ½ inch of water into the bottom of the pan around the ham to maintain moisture during cooking. Brush half of the warm glaze evenly over the top and sides of the ham.
  4. 4Cover the dish loosely with foil and cook over medium-low heat for 18–20 minutes per pound. For a 4 lb ham, cook for approximately 1 hour 20 minutes total, until the internal temperature reaches 140°F when measured with a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part.
  5. 5Remove the foil and brush the remaining glaze over the ham. Continue cooking uncovered over medium heat for 20–30 minutes, basting with the remaining glaze every 10 minutes, until the surface is golden brown and sticky.
  6. 6Remove the ham from heat and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  7. 7Divide the sliced ham evenly into 12 airtight containers while still warm, spooning any extra pan glaze over each portion.
  8. 8Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
