Ingredients

2 servings
  • Pork Chops, Bone-In
  • 1½ teaspoons kosher salt
  • Olive oil(15g)

Regular (not extra-virgin) olive oil for high-heat cooking. EVOO for dressings.

  • Mushrooms, Shiitake(227g)
  • Unsalted Butter(30g)
  • Miso Paste, Red(23g)
  • Garlic
  • Ginger, Fresh Root(15g)
  • Cream, Heavy Whipping(60g)
  • Cilantro, Fresh(60g)
  • Green Onion (Scallion)(30g)

Instructions

  1. 1Pat the pork chops dry and season all over with 1 teaspoon of the salt. Heat the oil in a large skillet over high heat. Once the oil is glistening, add the pork and cook undisturbed until browned, about 3 minutes. Flip and continue cooking until the internal temperature of the pork reaches 145°F on an instant-read thermometer, 3 to 4 minutes more. Transfer the pork to a plate and let the skillet cool slightly.
  2. 2Heat the skillet over medium heat and add the mushrooms in a single layer. Season with the remaining ½ teaspoon salt and cook undisturbed until they begin to brown, about 4 minutes.
  3. 3Stir in the butter, miso paste, garlic, and ginger until coated. Cook, stirring often, until mushrooms are tender, about 3 minutes more. Stir in the heavy cream, cilantro and green onions until combined.
  4. 4Serve the pork topped with the mushroom sauce.

Common questions

How much protein does Pork Chops with Miso Mushrooms have per serving?

Each serving has only 6g of protein and 247 calories, so this is not a primary protein source—it functions more as a side or appetizer component. With 32g fat and 15g carbs per serving, it's a fat-heavy option that doesn't support macro targets for lifters.

How long does Pork Chops with Miso Mushrooms take to make?

This recipe has quick prep time and cooks on the stovetop, making it fast to execute for 2 servings. However, the low yield means you'd need to batch multiple rounds if prepping for the full week.

Is Pork Chops with Miso Mushrooms good for fat loss?

At only 247 calories per serving, this recipe fits low-calorie meal prep, but the 6g protein is too low to preserve muscle during a cut. You'd want to pair this with a separate high-protein component to meet daily macro targets.
